BOOK REVIEW: “We, the People: Insights of an Activist Judge”

By: Albert Billy Bangirana, University of KwaZulu-Natal

As part of our conversations, we at the CIHABlog continue to present critical perspectives into governance issues on the African continent and how this affects people’s lives. For example, our 2nd Annual CIHA Blog Conference in South Africa (2016) centred on broader and deeper issues relating to Religion, Governance and Humanitarianism in Africa.

In this post, we bring to your attention a new publication, We the People: Insights of an Activist Judge,” by retired South African judge and activist, Albie Sachs. In this well-written book, Albie grapples with critical themes such as socio-economic rights, truth and reconciliation, constitutionalism and the controversies surrounding transformation in South Africa today. Dr. Christopher Merrett offers us a detailed review of this informative book.
