Happy Eid al-Adha to all our Muslim readers and others who celebrate. Millions of Muslims celebrate Eid once again during a pandemic that has had a devastating impact on their lives. The governments’ mismanagement of the crisis exacerbated by global vaccine inequality has led to a surge of COVID-19 cases in several African countries, raising concerns about a third wave driven by the spread of the Delta variant. As we remember the lives lost, we would like to wish the Muslim Ummah a happy, healthy, and safe Eid.
