Invitation to a webinar on Women, Peace and Security UNSCR 1325

The Centre for Research, Training, and Publication (CRTP), at Hekima University College, in collaboration with the Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR), UN Kenya and REINVENT invites you to a webinar round table discussion on the theme “Women, Peace and Security” Commemorating UNSCR 1325 the 20th Anniversary. The event will take place on 21st October 2020 between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. See further information below and make sure you register before the event.
October 31st, 2020, will mark 20 years since the United Nations Security Council passed the Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325) on Women, Peace and Security. The UNSCR 1325 endorses the significant role of women who suffer unduly from conflict yet play a fundamental role in the prevention and resolution of conflicts through peace negotiations, peacebuilding, peacekeeping, humanitarian response as well as post-conflict reconstruction. The Resolution advocated for the incorporation of gendered perspectives in peace and security through four strata: Prevention, Protection, Participation and Relief and Recovery.
This virtual meeting on 21st October 2020 seeks to provide an opportunity to share the gains made by women in promoting issues of peace and security globally and also at continental, regional, and national levels since the adoption of the UNSCR, 1325. In engaging in conversations on the main issues arising in our contexts, Time: 11:00- 13:00 (Nairobi time- GMT +3).
