The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has released its 2014 Gates Annual Letter, which spells out the foundation’s view of “three myths that block progress for the poor”: poor countries are doomed to stay poor, foreign aid is a big waste, and saving lives leads to overpopulation.
Chris Blattman, a political science professor at Columbia University, has graded the letter on his blog, and Edward Barbier, an economics professor at the University of Wyoming, points out “what Bill Gates forgot to mention.”
How do CIHA readers feel about the Gates Foundation’s three myths – mostly true, or ignoring important nuances?
