Considering the argument that the US should be seeking trade opportunities with Africa, recently President Obama in his speech to the youth of Africa at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa openly resounded that in fact African states should be seeking and strengthening trade amongst themselves. Upon this initiative the leverage to broker surmountable trade with bigger economies like the US would in this case be more lucrative and less paternalistic.
