ZANU-PF, under the leadership of H.E. Robert Mugabe, emerged victorious in the elections that were held in Zimbabwe on 31 July 2013. Despite the skepticism and allegations of possible from Britain, the US and Australia, South African President Jacob Zuma stood up as one of the few African leaders to congratulate the people of Zimbabwe for holding a peaceful election and the ZANU-PF upon its victory – and faced some criticism within South Africa for his actions. Whether this election will pave way for a smooth political landscape in Zimbabwe remains a matter of contestation.
