Opportunities: The Fourth Annual SANKOFA54: African Youth Empowerment Conference

Eachyaapd year, the Yale Undergraduate Association for African Peace & Development (YAAPD) hosts the SANKOFA54: AfricanYouth Empowerment Conference, a two-day event that aims to provide students with the necessary tools, networks, and mentor relationships needed to effect change. The theme of this year’s conference is: The Next Chapter: Africa in the Global ContextThis year’s conference will be aimed at assessing Africa’s social, economic, political, and cultural capital in a global context. We will take a look at Africa’s interactions and exchanges across all corners of the globe, what Africans are producing for the rest of the world, and the value of the African voice in international discourse.  This year, we will provide key networking and recruitment opportunities with top companies and NGOs on the continent including groups such as PricewaterhouseCoopers. We are also very excited to announce that the senior adviser to Dalberg and author of Success in Africa: CEO Insights from a Continent on the Rise, Jonathan Berman, will be attending as one of this year’s keynote speakers.

Lastly, this year YAAPD and the Yale African Student Association (YASA) will be hosting a Cultural Show, entitled Kuumba–Swahili for creativity–on Friday, April 10th at 8pm in SSS.
