AEGIS CRG African Politics and International Relations Workshop “Non-Western Actors in Africa: Interests, Conflicts and Agency” (Deadline February 24):

The Collaborative Research Group (CRG) African Politics and International Relations of the Africa-Europe Group for Interdisciplinary Studies (AEGIS), in collaboration with GIGA (German Institute of Global and Area Studies), is calling for proposals for a one-day workshop on “Non-Western Actors in Africa: Interests, Conflicts and Agency.” The workshop will be held on 11 June 2020 at the GIGA premises in Hamburg and is co-sponsored by AEGIS and GIGA. Announcing the Africa Is a Country Fellowship (Deadline March 1):

With the support of the Shuttleworth Foundation and the Open Society Foundation, Africa Is a Country (AIAC) is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Africa Is a Country Fellowship Program. The purpose of the AIAC Fellowship is to support the production of original work and new knowledge on Africa-related topics that are under-recognized and under-covered in traditional media, new media, and other public forums. Fellows will be writers and/or other cultural/intellectual producers who can contribute meaningfully to transforming and expanding knowledge about Africa and the diaspora. Each fellow will receive a grant of up to US$3,000 to create original work on a topic of their choice for AIAC over a 9-month period. Islam in Africa Studies – Group Call for Papers and for a Panel Proposal (Deadline March 1)

The Islam in Africa Studies Group (IASG)­ –a coordinate organization of the African Studies Association– plans to sponsor a number of panels at the ASA annual meeting taking place in Washington, DC from November 19-21, 2020. IASG is accepting individual proposals and proposals for sponsored pre-organized panels and roundtables on topics connected to the study of Islam in Africa. CODESRIA African Academic Diaspora Support to African Universities Program (Deadline March 10)

The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) invites joint proposals from African academics in the Diaspora and in universities in Africa for visiting fellowships to African universities. This call targets African scholars in the Diaspora who are interested in being supported to spend some time in an African university to undertake specific academic activities aimed at strengthening teaching and research in the Social Sciences, Humanities and in Higher Education studies. The tenure of the visiting professorship will range from two (2) weeks to three (3) months. African Politics Conference Group (Deadline March 15)

The American Political Science Association (APSA) is pleased to announce a Call for Applications from early-career scholars based in Africa who are interested in attending the 2020 APSA Annual Meeting as part of a Research Development Group. Organized by the African Politics Conference Group (APCG), the program is a multi-day opportunity to advance research towards publication, participate in the APSA annual meeting, and develop scholarly networks with colleagues. General Lamine Cissé Women, Peace and Security Research Fellowship (Deadline March 15)

In honor of General Cissé, PartnersGlobal, Partners West Africa Nigeria and Partners West Africa Senegal are awarding research fellowships to two young African women researchers and practitioners working in the civil society and security sectors.
