Uncovering the Past through Images: The Nigerian Nostalgia Project, Postcolonialism, and Digital Public History (Deadline: 30 November 2019)

The emergence of the Nigerian Nostalgia Project, a digital repository of photos and images on Nigerian history, in 2010 has radically transformed the way stories are told, engaged, curated, and archived. Panelists, academic and nonacademic practitioners, are invited to use the Nigerian Nostalgia Project to engage with these issues among others. Their contributions can focus on specific themes, body of images, narratives, and aesthetics.  But beyond the euphoria of this laudable project, there is an urgent need to problematize digital public history from a postcolonial lens. If you would like to participate in this panel, please send a 250-word abstract and a short bio to Lagos Studies Association lagosstudiesassociation@gmail.com by November 30, 2019.
