Call for Hosting of the African Studies Association of Africa (ASAA) 2021 Biennial Conference (Deadline: October 28)
The African Studies Association of Africa (ASAA) invites institutions of higher education, think tanks, or other sites of intellectual engagement in Africa to submit expressions of interest to co-host the next biennial ASAA conference to be held in October 2021. 11th Annual African, African American, and Diaspora Studies (AAAD) Interdisciplinary Conference (Deadline: November 1)
The African, African American, and Diaspora Studies program at James Madison University invites proposals for its annual interdisciplinary conference, to be held virtually as a webinar series from Wednesday, February 17 to Saturday, February 20, 2021. This year’s theme is “Movement(s), Collectives, and Collectivity.” Ranging across topics from archival practices to Black Lives Matter, the conference will bring together a group of scholars and archivists from a wide variety of overlapping and intersecting fields. Proposals from scholars in all relevant disciplines at any point in their scholarly careers are welcome. HRAF Global Scholars Program (Deadline: November 15)
HRAF is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for the HRAF Global Scholars Program. This program provides scholars around the world with one year of complimentary access to eHRAF World Cultures and eHRAF Archaeology. The application deadline is November 15, 2020. Awardees will be notified in December 2020, and access to the eHRAF databases will be granted for the 2021 calendar year. I Tatti/DHI Rom Joint Fellowship for African Studies (Deadline: 16 November)
I Tatti – The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies and the German Historical Institute in Rome (Deutsches Historisches Institut in Rom) offer a joint residential fellowship for the 2021-2022 academic year. With this fellowship, I Tatti and the DHI Rom seek to stimulate and support increased scholarship on cultural exchange with and within the African continent during the period c. 1250-1750 by creating and promoting opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration, particularly between scholars from African regions and those working in European and North American institutions. The fellowship offers post-doctoral scholars working on African studies (or topics that closely consider Africa) a ten-month position to conduct historical research in Italy supported by two institutes with dynamic academic communities.
